Trading methodology
How simulated orders fill and how performance is measured. This is methodology version v1; every fill records the version it used.
Market data
Quotes come from the platform's stock data service. A fill only uses a quote that is fresh for the current session; if the newest quote is stale, the order waits and the quote is refreshed first. Users never submit prices.
Market orders
A market order placed during the regular session (9:30–16:00 ET on trading days) fills at the first fresh quote after acceptance. Outside the session it queues and fills at the first fresh quote after the next open. Day orders that are still open at the close expire.
Slippage
Execution price = reference quote × (1 + sign × bps ÷ 10,000), rounded to four decimals. Buys pay the slippage, sells receive less by the same amount.
| Reference price | Slippage |
|---|---|
| $5.00 and above | 5 bps |
| Below $5.00 | 15 bps |
Limit orders
A limit order fills when the observed price reaches the limit, at the slipped reference price but never worse than the limit. Limit orders can be good for the day or good till cancelled.
Cash, reservations and lots
Buying power is cash minus cash reserved for open orders. Sells reserve shares. Positions are kept as FIFO lots; realized profit uses the lots closed by each sell. Commissions are zero.
Performance
- A portfolio snapshot is taken after each market close; the equity curve starts at the account's opening balance.
- Returns shown publicly are time-weighted (TWR), chained from daily flow-adjusted returns, so resets and adjustments do not count as performance.
- Money-weighted return (MWR) solves the internal rate of the window's cash flows.
- Maximum drawdown is the largest peak-to-trough fall of the equity curve. Volatility and Sharpe use daily returns annualised over 252 trading days with a versioned risk-free rate.
- Win rate is the share of closed lots with positive realized profit.
Track records and resets
Filled orders cannot be deleted or backdated. An account reset returns cash to $100,000, closes every lot, is recorded permanently and starts a new track record. Resets are limited to one per 30 days.
Leaderboards
Creators appear on leaderboards after 30 days of track record and 10 fills, with a public portfolio and an account in good standing. Return, drawdown, volatility, Sharpe and trade count are always shown next to any composite score.
